It provides lifelong support, including financial help, advice, and community connections for those in need.
The Legion also has branches overseas, including here on the Costa Blanca. The Jávea branch brings together members of the local community, organising social events and fundraising activities throughout the year.
It is perhaps best known for the annual Poppy Appeal, raising funds to support veterans and to remember those who have served.

La Royal British Legion es una organización benéfica del Reino Unido que apoya a los miembros actuales y veteranos de las Fuerzas Armadas, así como a sus familias.
Ofrece apoyo continuo, incluyendo ayuda económica, asesoramiento y acompañamiento a quienes lo necesitan.
La organización también cuenta con ramas en el extranjero, como aquí en la Costa Blanca. La delegación de Jávea reúne a miembros de la comunidad local, organizando eventos sociales y actividades benéficas durante todo el año.
Es especialmente conocida por la campaña anual de la amapola (Poppy Appeal), que recauda fondos para apoyar a los veteranos y recordar a quienes han servido.
The Poppy
You may often see me wearing a small red poppy badge on my jacket. This symbol is widely recognised in the United Kingdom as a mark of remembrance. It honours the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces and remembers those who lost their lives in conflicts. The poppy became a symbol after the First World War, inspired by the flowers that grew on the battlefields of Flanders. Today, wearing a poppy is a simple but meaningful way of showing respect and keeping their memory alive.
As a member of the Jávea branch of the Royal British Legion, this is a cause close to my heart.

Es posible que me veáis a menudo llevando una pequeña amapola roja en la chaqueta. Este símbolo es muy reconocido en el Reino Unido como una muestra de recuerdo y respeto. Representa a los hombres y mujeres que han servido en las Fuerzas Armadas y recuerda a quienes perdieron la vida en conflictos. La amapola se convirtió en símbolo después de la Primera Guerra Mundial, inspirada en las flores que crecían en los campos de batalla de Flandes. Hoy en día, llevar una amapola es una forma sencilla pero muy significativa de mantener viva su memoria.
Como miembro de la delegación de Jávea de la Royal British Legion, es una causa muy cercana a mi corazón.

Recently, I attended a Wellness Expo in Jávea, where I helped man an information stand for the Royal British Legion.
Events like this are a great opportunity for us to meet people from both the local and international community, explain what the Legion does, and offer support or guidance where needed. It also allows us to raise awareness of the help available to veterans and their families, many of whom may not realise that support is
accessible here in Spain.
It was a pleasure to speak with so many people throughout the day, answer questions, and share the work that the Legion continues to do both in the UK and overseas.

Recientemente asistí a una Feria de Bienestar en Jávea, donde ayudé a atender un puesto informativo de la Royal British Legion.
Eventos como este son una gran oportunidad para conectar tanto con la comunidad local como con la internacional, explicar la labor de la organización y ofrecer ayuda u orientación cuando es necesario. También nos permite dar a conocer el apoyo disponible para veteranos y sus familias, muchos de los cuales quizás no sepan que pueden acceder a esta ayuda aquí en España.
Fue un placer hablar con tantas personas a lo largo del día, responder preguntas y compartir la importante labor que la Royal British Legion sigue realizando tanto en el Reino Unido como en el extranjero.
Our care support
Another important part of attending events like this is to encourage new members to join the Royal British Legion. Like many organisations, our membership is gradually ageing, and we are always keen to welcome new faces.
You do not have to be ex-forces to become a member — anyone who supports the aims of the Legion is welcome. New members help keep the organisation active, ensure its continued presence in the community, and allow us to carry on supporting those who need it most.
We also have a dedicated Welfare Officer within the branch, whose role is to provide care, support and compassion to members of our community who may need assistance.

Otro aspecto importante de participar en eventos como este es animar a nuevas personas a unirse a la Royal British Legion. Como ocurre en muchas organizaciones, nuestros miembros actuales van envejeciendo poco a poco, por lo que siempre estamos encantados de dar la bienvenida a nuevas incorporaciones.
No es necesario haber pertenecido a las Fuerzas Armadas para hacerse socio — cualquier persona que comparta los valores de la organización es bienvenida. Los nuevos miembros ayudan a mantener viva la asociación, asegurar su presencia en la comunidad y continuar apoyando a quienes más lo necesitan.
Además, contamos con un responsable de bienestar dentro de la delegación, cuya función es ofrecer atención, apoyo y acompañamiento a las personas de nuestra comunidad que puedan necesitar ayuda.
Remembrance Day
Every November, the Jávea Branch of the Royal British Legion holds a Remembrance Service at the Fisherman’s Church in Jávea Port, usually starting at

The service is always well attended and provides an opportunity to remember those who have served and those who have lost their lives. Everyone is welcome to attend.
It is a simple but moving service that brings the community together.

Cada mes de noviembre, la delegación de Jávea de la Royal British Legion celebra un Servicio de Recuerdo en la Iglesia del Pescador en el Puerto de Jávea, normalmente a partir de las 15:00.
El acto suele contar con una gran asistencia y ofrece la oportunidad de recordar a quienes han servido y a quienes perdieron la vida. Todos son bienvenidos a asistir.
Es un acto sencillo pero emotivo que reúne a la comunidad.
